We are looking for more Trustees to join the Board and spread our skills and knowledge.  We also need to appoint a Chair and Secretary.

We need new people with a spread of abilities to join the charity’s Trustees, as our work is expanding and we need to grow our organisation to meet the increasing demand.

We are looking for people with a talent for friendship who share our commitment to the inclusion and welfare of refugees and people seeking sanctuary and of the local community they are joining, and who will celebrate with us their contribution and achievements.

If you also have leadership, administrative or financial skills, or particular skills and interests which may be shared, we can offer a range of challenging and exciting roles in which to serve.

Chairman and Secretary Trustees

After five years’ service leading our dedicated group of volunteers who offer a warm welcome to the people seeking sanctuary & asylum in Northumberland, seeing numbers grow from 6 to over 400, and establishing a strong collaborative relationship with the Red Cross and many local organisations, our Chair and our Secretary need to step back.

The charity is on the verge of very necessary expansion which we hope will include employing staff and acquiring premises as demand is increasing all the time, to maintain our momentum.

We can offer a thoroughly challenging and enjoyable leadership role to someone who can share our commitment to the welfare and inclusion of these newcomers who are bringing energy and talents to our community and who now share fully in the running of our many activities.

We are part of a nation-wide organisation, the City of Sanctuary movement.  Our charity is managed through a vigorous executive committee and overseen by our trustees.  Our Secretary keeps in touch with the City of Sanctuary and other refugee bodies, and provides admin backup for the executive and the trustees.
